Summer weddings provide the perfect occasion to experiment with different silhouettes, styles, and seasonal colours.

Buttery, muted yellows are the colour of the season - discover how to wear this gorgeous hue at your next summer wedding.

Wedding season is finally upon us, and if you’re anything like me, the thrill of receiving the invite is soon followed by the exciting yet chaotic ‘what am I going to wear?!’ dilemma. Summer weddings provide the perfect occasion to experiment with different silhouettes and styles, from floaty a-line dresses to sleek body-hugging maxis. Most of all, the summer season is all about having fun with colour.

When I think of summer colours, I think of soft greens, powder blues, and of course, butter yellow. Each year, this buttery tone crops back up as the days get lighter and brighter, and 2025 is no different - as soon as spring arrived, we quickly saw the resurgence of butter yellow ooze its way back into our wardrobes.

It’s soft, it’s feminine, and it melts so beautifully against sun-drenched backgrounds - whether you find yourself at a countryside estate or a coastal ceremony. Plus, it pairs effortlessly with wardrobe staples like neutrals - think white, tan, or brown - making it an ideal choice for a summer dress for wedding guests.

So, if you’re searching for the perfect summer dress for an upcoming wedding, then look no further. Butter yellow is the colour of the summer season, and in this lookbook, I’ll share how I styled this beautiful shade for a countryside wedding.

Wedding Guest Lookbook: Butter Yellow in Bloom

This weekend, I attended a beautiful wedding held at the lovely Charlton Hall in Alnwick. The estate was beautiful - manicured gardens, a regal house, and a homely atmosphere that made the entire day feel warm and intimate. Luckily, despite appearances of rain, the weather held off for the most part and we were treated to soft sunshine that was warmly welcomed.

I knew that I wanted a dress that felt elegant and minimal, with an A-line silhouette and a floaty skirt that gives that effortless, princess-y feeling. Nothing too busy - just something that moved beautifully, felt comfortable all day, and made me feel quietly confident.

While I had my eye on many House of CB dresses, known for their voluminous skirts and beautifully structured corsets, I knew I had to look for something a little more in my price range. My mission was to find the same elegant, feminine vibe without breaking the bank.

The solution? Club L London.

The Dress: Club L London Auburn Midi in Pale Yellow

I chose a romantic butter yellow midi dress with a feminine silhouette and a gorgeous halter neckline.

My heart settled on Club L London’s Auburn dress, a romantic butter yellow midi dress with a feminine silhouette - fitted at the bodice and waist with a soft, flowing skirt that moved beautifully with every step. The dress also featured a delicate mesh halter neckline that tied in a gorgeous, girly bow at the nape of my neck. It had that soft Audrey Hepburn elegance I just couldn’t resist.

The pale yellow of the dress was beautifully muted and blended gently with the surroundings. It was understated, yet undeniably elegant - one of those colours that doesn’t scream for attention but still makes a lasting impression. I felt like sunshine in a bottle!

I paired the dress with off-white slingback court heels, an off-white handbag, and a pair of sleek tortoiseshell sunnies.

To keep the outfit balanced and polished, I paired it with off-white New Look slingback court heels, an off-white handbag from Mango, and a pair of sleek tortoiseshell sunnies from Next. I kept my jewellery minimal with chunky gold hoops, a delicate cross necklace, my Abbot Lyon square watch, and a variety of gold rings - letting the dress, and the view, do most of the talking.

I pinned my hair in a soft, twisted updo to show off the delicate mesh tie straps and halter neckline of the dress. I then tied it all together with a minimal, bronzed makeup look that paired perfectly with the warm tones of the outfit.

This look was the perfect balance between effortlessness and elegance - exactly what I look for in a summer wedding guest dress. From the beautiful scenery to the gorgeous couple and a day filled with love, everything felt touched by sunshine. This warm, buttery yellow didn’t just complement the setting - it was a reflection of the happiness that was woven into a perfect day.
