5 Workwear Outfits for Spring
Discover how to elevate your workwear around everyday staples.
Workwear can be complicated. It’s the art of feeling put together without sacrificing comfort or your own personal style.
For me, the secret to good workwear has always come down to two things: keeping it simple and having a solid rotation of reliable basics. I used to think building a work wardrobe meant constantly buying new pieces (and don’t get me wrong, sometimes it still does), but more often than not, it’s about perfecting the mix-and-match of good quality staples.
Now that spring has arrived, I’ve found myself leaning into lighter layers, tailored pieces, and neutral tones. These are five workwear looks I’ve been reaching for lately.
1. Easy tailoring
A simple way to elevate your workwear is by investing in a few tailored staples: crisp shirts, good T-shirt blouses, structured outerwear. The right pieces can instantly lift an outfit with very little effort.
Once you have those essentials, it becomes much easier to create different combinations throughout the week. Here, I paired a white T-shirt blouse (from Primark, believe it or not) with a grey cardigan, bootcut jeans, Mary Jane flats, and a brown belt to tie everything together.
The best part about this outfit is that nothing was new – I simply styled familiar basics together in a way that felt fresh. And there are endless ways you can wear this type of blouse – on its own, layered under a jumper, or paired with tailored trousers for a more corporate look.
I’ve also been really loving the Mary Janes recently, as they can take a look from casual to chic in seconds, and they’re genuinely so comfy. Sometimes, something as small as changing the shoes is enough to completely shift the feel of an outfit.

2. Smart casual
This outfit has been a real favourite of mine lately. I’ve been layering a light scoop-neck knit over a white shirt, paired with wide-leg trousers and Adidas Spezials, and finished with a black belt.
The lines between smart and casual have definitely blurred over the past few years, and I love that balance of pairing something a little smarter with a relaxed trainer. I also love how the white trainers tie in with the white shirt – it keeps the whole look feeling balanced and pulled together. Of course, if you wanted to dress it up a little more, this would also look beautiful with a pair of black heeled boots.
I feel like accessories really do a lot of the work here, too. Even something as simple as adding a belt is enough to make the outfit feel that bit more elevated. Add a longline coat, and you’re set to take on the day.

3. Soft neutrals
As someone who regularly wears white, cream, and beige tones, I’m no stranger to a neutral colour palette. While some may call it “boring”, I think there’s something undeniably chic about a soft, neutral-toned look. Once you start layering in similar shades – whites, creams, soft browns – you quickly end up with something that feels refined and quietly expensive.
Here, I paired brown tailored trousers with a white cami, a cream cardigan, Adidas Spezials, and a brown belt. It’s a very simple outfit, but the colour palette really does all the talking. Soft, muted, and tonal, these warmer shades feel especially perfect as the weather starts to brighten. Once you have your neutral base, you can then tie it all together with gold jewellery and elegant accessories.
For me, this is exactly how I like to approach workwear: simple and wearable, yet still chic. Less is more, and once you have a few neutral basics, you’ve got the perfect base to start building outfits that look effortlessly put together.

4. Off-duty chic
Not every outfit has to feel overly corporate chic. If you work in a more relaxed office like mine, it’s nice to go for something a little more casual every now and then.
And, of course, casual can still mean cute. Here, I’ve paired my bootleg jeans with a white cami, green cardigan, Adidas Spezials, and brown belt. I love this look – the cardigan is very much the star of the show and has received plenty of compliments. It’s a beautiful bottle green shade that feels easy to wear but still adds a bit of personality to an otherwise simple outfit.
The three key staples here are a smart pair of jeans, a simple cami, and a light cardigan (this cami from Cotton On is such amazing quality, I’d highly recommend). These kind of basics can be worn and reworked in so many different ways, making them perfect for an easy, everyday work wardrobe.

5. Elevated basics
As well as building a reliable set of basics, a work wardrobe can also benefit from a few standout pieces that elevate certain looks even further. Statement pieces can add colour, pattern, and structure, perfect for when you feel like adding a little ‘j’e ne sais quoi’ to your look.
Here, I’ve styled a pair of black wide-leg trousers with Mary Jane flats and a gorgeous polka dot blouse with a tie neck and keyhole detail. I wore this outfit for a black-tie awards event I was delivering, so I wanted something that felt formal and elegant, but still really comfortable and easy to wear throughout the evening.
As a whole, the look is super simple – but the statement blouse instantly makes it feel more dressy and feminine. To pull it all together, I wore my hair in a sleek low bun, added gold jewellery, and let the top do the rest.

Overall, these looks all come back to the same idea: keeping workwear simple and built around pieces you can mix and match with ease. Whether it’s tonal neutrals, relaxed tailored pieces, or a statement blouse for a more elevated look, it’s really about finding that balance between feeling comfortable and still looking put together.
If you ever lack inspiration, Pinterest is your best friend. Whenever I feel like I have nothing to wear, I’ll scroll through for outfit ideas and recreate looks using pieces I already own. More often than not, you’ll find you’ve already got everything you need sitting in your wardrobe.
So, no, workwear doesn’t have to be complicated – sometimes, you just need a few reliable basics and a new approach to styling them.
