Postcards from Dublin
Guinness, gossip, and good company – a wholesome weekend away in Dublin.
I visited Dublin in November for a wholesome weekend getaway, and it was a wonderful way to celebrate my 27th birthday while also getting into the Christmas spirit.
What made it even more special was spending it with my closest friends. There’s something about reconnecting with people you’ve known forever and carrying on as if no time has passed at all – reminiscing over glasses of wine, sharing life updates, and laughing so hard until your tummy hurts.
From the vibrant atmosphere of Temple Bar to the festive energy of Grafton Street, we spent the weekend wandering, laughing, and taking in all the seasonal magic.
Here are my favourite postcards from Dublin.
Temple Bar
As you can imagine, visiting Dublin in November meant the Christmas spirit was already in full swing, with mulled wine, festive lights, and warm cosy pubs on every corner.
And nowhere felt more festive than the Temple Bar pub, covered in a blanket of twinkling lights and festive bows. Its cobbled streets were buzzing with life, the sound of live music spilling onto the road as passersby stopped to marvel at the iconic Irish landmark.
The Temple Bar area, just south of the River Liffey, is famous for its lively nightlife, traditional pubs, and cultural venues. Naturally, there was no better place to enjoy a pint of Guinness. I’m not usually a Guinness fan, but even I have to admit it went down surprisingly easily – there’s a reason they say it’s better in Ireland!
Between the red-painted fronts and cascading Christmas lights, it was the perfect place to capture the festive magic.
The Temple Bar was super festive with its pretty twinkling lights.
My friend and I both with our mandatory pint of Guinness.

St. Patrick’s Cathedral
We visited St. Patrick’s Cathedral, a historic 12th-century landmark in the heart of Dublin. As the largest cathedral in Ireland, it’s best known for its stunning Gothic architecture and rich heritage. We took a lovely walk away from the bustle of the city to explore its peaceful gardens.
St. Paul’s cathedral looked amazing against the blue sky.
Grafton Street
We wandered down Grafton Street, one of Dublin’s busiest and most vibrant streets, and one of Europe’s top shopping destinations. In the lead-up to Christmas, it felt especially lively – though I’d definitely avoid going on a Saturday during the festive period (it was chaotic.)

Smiles all round
Above all, we had a gorgeous weekend catching up and talking over some mulled wine.
We spent our first night in Rathmines, a charming suburb of Dublin, for drinks. We started at a quirky pub, Blackbird, before heading to Jimmy Rabbitte’s, soaking up the classic Irish pub atmosphere complete with live music.
The best part, though, was spending our last night in with pizza, PJs, and The Devil Wears Prada. Perfection.
Cosy pub stops with a glass of mulled wine helped break up our trip perfectly.

Pizza and PJ’s; a lovely end to a lovely trip.
