Read on to find out how I spent a lovely evening at Victor Indigo November.
Victor Indigo November
Victor Indigo November is situated in the charismatic and ever-growing Railway Quarter in Gateshead, an area brimming with micro-pubs, craft beer bars, and cosy venues perfect for a relaxed evening out. Located just moments away from the centre of Newcastle, this wine shop fits perfectly into the area’s vibrant mix of independent venues.
Opened in 2023 by Charlotte and Lorrie Fenwick, Victor Indigo November was born out of a love of French wines and a desire to bring a taste of France to the North East. What started as a passion project has quickly become a go-to destination for wine lovers, offering a curated selection of bottles from France and beyond - many of which are hard to find elsewhere in the region.
Inside, the shop shelves are lined with beautiful bottles, inviting you to come in and explore an ever-changing list of French wines by the glass. My friend and I settled by the window, enjoying a lovely view of the Railway Quarter outside, softly lit by the twinkle of fairy lights.
Victor Indigo November is located in the heart of Gateshead’s Railway Quarter.
Wine & Charcuterie
The wine menu offers a wide variety, including sparkling, white, rosé, red, and sweet wines. They also offer wine flights, where you can enjoy three 75ml glasses for £12 - a great way to sample a few different wines and perhaps discover a new favourite.
My friend and I enjoyed a bottle of the Bla Bla Cabernet Sauvignon, a full-bodied red wine from France. The wine was lovely and smooth, and paired perfectly with our charcuterie.
From their deli counter, they offer a selection of cheese and charcuterie boards. All of their cheese comes from France and represent the very best artisanal fromagers. We went for the charcuterie board, which came with 3 cheeses, 3 saucisson, as well as crackers, cornichons, and chutney. We also went for a side of the lemon and oregano olives.
We visited on a Wednesday to take advantage of the ‘Hump Day Special’: buy any bottle from the bar menu and get a sharing board for half price! Our total for the evening worked out to just £15 each - a fantastic deal for a night filled with good wine and great food.
From the warm welcome to the carefully selected wine and charcuterie, Victor Indigo November is the perfect retreat for a cosy, and affordable, evening.
Good wine. Delicious food. Great company.
Our choice for the evening: a bottle of Bla Bla Cabernet Sauvignon.
Our cosy evening started with this gorgeous charcuterie board, pairing perfectly with a glass of French wine.
The charcuterie board had a mix of cheese, saucisson, cornichons, crackers, and chutney.
Don’t forget to say hello to Rayna, the resident dog (or Chief Greetings Officer, as they call her), who gave us an adorable welcome howl when we walked in. She is so sweet and will definitely keep you company if you order some cheese!
